Bonneville Totaled!? PLEASE HELP! ASAP!
#11
My car had this repair done by the previous owner. If parts of a car are rusting entirely to pieces, it'* not a good sign. It'* probably not nearly as rust-free as you think. There'* absolutely no reason for you to pay a cent over $300 for a car in need of that degree of repair, and that'* assuming the rust isn't critical. The scrap yard will probably give him $200 max so offer that, otherwise walk away from the car. Why are you buying this btw when you already have a ssei? Cars are cheap in the midwest and you're in Michigan of all places, there'* got to be 100 other Bonnevilles in your area.

The scrap yard is going to give him $200 tops. If the total cost of repair is less than a grand, I say go for it. Ask the mechanic that looked it over about his opinion on the car as a whole.

gahh...i'm PISSED. i think he'* making it an insurance job. totally illegal - yes. but i don't want to lose my friend over it. he bought her a CR-V and it needs engine work and i think he screwed with the bonneville to get more money towards the new car.

Well, it'* his car, his choice. Not much you can do about it. If you love the Bonneville, what person in their right mind wouldn't, look around and find another one. Watch for a Ei, there the most fun.

i know they're the most fun. the problem is, all of them around here with less than 100,000 miles on them usually cost more than $5000. i could have had this one for $1000. i really want to own a car thats powered by a 3800 */c. You have NO idea how much i hate my Alero. I figure a supercharged 3800 is a good engine choice because of its reliability, performance, and decent fuel economy. there aren't many other engines that meet that criteria. i've really began to enjoy this forum and its feeling like its over before it even started.

Maybe this is a good thing. If you really want an Ei I'd try to steer you toward the 97+ Ei'*. They are the easiest to mod with the most mods available and common.

Ya, 97 to 99 will be the best price and a ton of choices for modding. Once your in the 2000+ the price goes up. You can go with a 96 but you limit your options a bit. So try to stick with 97+
