1992 transmission swap
Just trying to check all my options, car won't go back to first or second gear I have two diagnosis now I kind of go with a blockage in the valve body as I can't find anything electrical wrong. The tran tag #612BYWW2J8H is this what I would have to find?Would it also have to be a AZKN Prom like mine? What years?I have a shop who would rebuild for 1300. but that is all the car would be worth even though the car and motor interior are like new even with 150,000 miles.Have people had much luck with salvage trans?they give warranty'* but the labor is 400. from a guy I know I don't think I want to try it myself at home on the floor.Last question what about a trans flush? The fluid is clean just replaced filter and fluid 1 year ago, and trans never slipped clunked or any notice before loosing gears.

I hope that'* $1300 not $13000.
SGP358 is the trans guy, he should know what years will work.
$400 to swap it out isn't a bad price. It'* a all day job. It can be done at home, but it'* a real chore without a few tools, like a simple trans jack and good high jack stands.

I think that you MAY have a solenoid that is failed mechanically. I have to look at a solenoid firing order, but I think that solenoid A could be bad, if I remember your symptoms.

I saw my price mistake when I posted but didn't know how to edit it.The mechanic at the dealership said he checked voltage on some solenoids but I didn't ask which ones I know he said one was at the low end of specs I think I will call tomorrow see if he remembers. Is there a way to confirm if either A or B solenoid is energizing properly? The shame is I don't think anything else is wrong with the trans. If I knew one was bad and they come off individually I would seriously consider opening a hole in the side pan and then putting a patch back over it as long as I could open it clean -no shavings.

Still trying things, should the wires to the A&B solenoids at the PCM show voltage when shifter is pulled into forward gears?I only see about 300 milli volts but no change with the gear selector, I know there is 12 volts going in the trans on the brown wire.I know the wires Ohm good, but want to find a way to confirm the solenoids work or not,if they do and the dealer is right about valve body blockage I will drop the pan and take the valve body out and clean it.Thanks for the ideas,I wish I had one to take apart to get a better idea what to look at.
