Absolutely!

Now the engine never had any knock before it this happened, it was in perfect working condition.

So I guess it was just assembled poorly? That'* a nice feeling...

20,000km since the rebuild.

I have no idea what a connecting rod is, but I'm sure it connects something! lol

Is there one/cylinder? What do they actually do (connect)?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I thought that that rod was called a piston rod or something like that.

I had previously thought it was that, but didn't think that a bearing on something so major could make this noise and still let the car run ok.

As for the upper intake, it has already been replaced on this car.

LOL, the bad news there is pretty scary, Good thing I made sure my rents got it in to be fixed ASAP. Even though they said it was probably nothing when they listened to it and told us to come back in like 4 days I knew it wasn't minor.

Well I think they're going to **** us over...

There was a dent in the oil pan which decreased the flow into the oil intake that sits in the pan. And since the bearing on #6 went bad, #6 being the last bearing to see oil it didn't get enough and went bad. So there I am standing over my beloved 3800 Series 2, upside down gutted, with it'* massive pistons sitting there. By the way, VERY cool to see your engine opened up.

So they're going to screw us for the warranty...

Now to decide if we pay to have it rebuilt (about $2000 CDN) or throw it out... What do you guys think we should do? If we have it rebuilt it will be sold immediately.

No, it never showed low oil pressure. And no light ever came on. I watch these things, especially when I heard that noise, I double checked all the guages, all normal. And then promptly had the car checked.

The screen was restricted somewhat, but there were still opening of depth at least 3mm on some sides.

On the oil pan where the indent is there'* no scratching of the paint at all. The mark on it looked like it was buffed where the impact was. Very shiny. On the inside of the pan there were markings where the oil dip tube'* face had scarped some of some of the paint off, as if it had been rubbing/vibrating against it for some time.

The oil sump screen/tube are in perfect condition. Like new.

Would a flow that was decreased enough do starve oil to the #6 connecting rod bearing show a considerable decrease in the oil pressure on the guage?

Yes, you're right, it'* held on with 2 bolts, one of which he stripped the head on infront of me...

The rod looked just like all the other rods. And the bearing itself appeared all scratched up, and slightly darker than the rest.

The oil guage and temp guage were always normal, I check them at least once or twice no matter how short a distance I am travelling.

Apparently only 6 went bad because it gets oil last therefore there was insuffecient pressure to supply suffecient oil to #6.

Yea, my father is yelling BS too, but what arguement do we possibly have?

They have a dented oil pan, we have no way of proving those guages were normal, we have no way of proving they damaged the oil pan. How can we fight it?

Hi, here is what I came up with on www.car-part.com These are all in Ontario. Might be easier to go to www.car-part.com and do a search for a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville engine than deciphering this mess. There are a couple with under 20 kilometers for like $740 Canadian. And if you can afford one you might buy one of the ones from the 2k newer motors because they are fresher motors and might have upgraded parts.

Good luck,
Stylez
