Default Car Wont Start 1994 SSEi

So drove car yesterday to pick up some tums. Car worked fine had no problems what so ever ran really well. This morning i go out to car wont start so naturally i think it must be dead battery. But sure enough all my lights are on. I was in a hurry so didnt have much time. So i start the beater up and drive it to work. Go home for lunch figure ill toss a jump pack from work thinking maybe battery is weak. Still nothing. Tryin rolling the car a bit cause im figuring it is the starter. Try tapping it a couple times. Still nothing. When i turn it to the start posistion check engine light comes on but doesnt tell me anything more then that.

Any ideas. Starter seems pretty easy to change.

Have you tried your other key? A dirty key can cause something like this

I had that problem before with it. I think there is major corrosion on the starter side of the battery cables. I cleaned the battery sides of them, check and retighten them, it will probably fire right up.

First off.. pay attention to the security light and let us know what it'* doing when you are trying to start it.

Second.. never underestimate corrosion on a battery cable in a bonneville. With all the issues we come across that are battery cable/corrosion related...I gave up..bought new cables...Life'* been good since.

make sure that key is clean because of the key code that is built into the key. if that is dirty she wont start. give it gas while trying to start with a clean key. if it doesnt crank over at all check corrosion on battery cables n connections on your starter. if the starter is cranking but wont fire the 3800 over then you could have a faulty fuel pump. ever get it started?

Update i spent some time last night with a wire brush and some brake cleaner. But i have decided its time to buy some new batter cables. And i think ill pick up a new battery as well. Optima time. It was definately the cables that were causing the problem. I cleaned them up on both ends and car fired right up.
