Hi all... So my A/C hasn't been working for years now and my first question is............. wait for it..........

How do i get it to work?

No seriously, I've purchased this shiznet called redtek, I live in Canada and it'* the only diy-kit that you can get here (we can't get the r-134a kits like y'all can in the states). It'* r-12a and it came with a can of leak stop and two cans of r-12a.

So... I tried slapping on the can of leak stop first, and it didn't even seem like I could get the product into it decently. It kept flowing out the side of the connector on the hose. Did i have to turn the car on? Cause I didn't... Anyways... after I tried putting in a can of r-12a and it seemed a little bit went in, because the low-side piping was cold a bit. But either the stuff flows out very slowly, or nothing was going in at all, or just intermittantly. it didn't really sound like it was filling...

After this I turn the a/c on and get nothing... Soooo... How do I check that my compressor even turns on? I read that you can jumper the accumulator but dont even know where it is... Where do I start? I would like to possibly get gauges but do they even sell r-12 ones? DO i NEED to vacuum the system? Help! I don't konw what to do and dont want to waste another can...

Anyways yes with the redtek kit, you will want to add the leak stop first, only add like half of that can with the car running, make sure its on the lowside LARGE line only..
Then with the car running AC set to max, allow one can of the refrigerant in..let it cool off, then add a second car if you do need it, which, you probably will, then you should be set, technically, you should buy a AC pressure gage to check how much u have first, so u dont over charge..but..i didnt..and..its cold as can be..

Does a standard pressure gauge work? Or do I need a bonneville specific one? Is there a specific model at Canadian tire / canadian walmart?

I'm not sure if i'm adding this stuff correctly... The can doesn't seem to empty! I wiggle the connector around and some of it squirts out the side, some seems to go in... There is too much guess work. How can i check that my compressor is functioning? I heard that with too low of a pressure the compressor won't turn on. When I look at the rpm'* after switching on AC, the rpm doesn't really change. I have the manual AC controls...

Instead of just buying refridgerant, you probably should have bought a kit like either of these...
