air intake project needs guidance
OK...I wan't to improve the intake on my 92 SSEI. I've read every thing I can on the Bonneville forums. Seems relatively simple to me. Anyways...I'm going to eventually add the K&N air filter. What I want to do is add a ram air system. Any suggestions on going about this. I want to make a rectangular inlet on the bottom part of the bumper. I've thought long and hard about this...but how in the world do you get a rectangular inlet to nicely connect up to a 3" hose going up to the air box? Secondly...on the K&N website, there is no part number for a 92 SSEi. Could someone help out with that one too? If anyone has any other sugjestions I'm very interested.

The K&N replacement filter is part # 33-2086. But try a 3 or 4" dryer duct or something similar to route air up. It may be easier than a rectangular inlet..but who knows. I haven't tried it yet.

I keep reading that the K&N part for a 94 won't fit a 92? Isn't the airbox the same size, we are dealing with a Series 1 intake. Is the the N/A box and the SC box a different size?
I should check the K7N website...

they dont make a K&N filter for a 92...unless you try to go different year or universal
**EDIT: Well we kinda figured it out. Just compare airboxes, if they're the same, 33-2086 will work for you LarsonFace, but if you wanted to avoid that, invest in an intake like my ADTR or the one in CrazyDriver'* sig. Both are more effective, but can get kinda pricey. But my former K&N drop in was $72, half the price of my new intake basically, so I would save up and go with the intake.

The K&N filter will work with the 92 air box....problem is that sometimes some K&N sealing grease (99-0704) may be needed too. As for the rest, I just added a 3" HD duct to my existing air box snockrel.

The only way a ram air system would help is if it increases the amount of boost on the output side of the supercharger. But I bet you could more easily get this additional boost with a slightly smaller SC pulley.
