Default Bad fuel system?

Okay, so last night im on my way home from the movies with my girlfriend. I just get done taking a turn and all of a sudden my engine shuts off. I had more than a half a tank. It has shut off on me before when i have a lower amount of gas and i take a turn. Is this a common problem? What'* going on? I couldn't get it started back up last night, i had to push it into a parking lot that was nearby while my girlfriend steered it in. Previous times it has happened i was able to get it started after waiting for a few minutes . I am also getting horrible gas mileage after some of the mods i have done. I would appreciate it if you were to get back to me with as much stuff you know about, i had to leave my bonnie in that parking lot over-night, i had a hard time sleeping over it. That car is my baby. So PLEASE get back to me.

Well i put on a new fuel filter, and did some of that seafoam cleaner stuff. It seems to be running smoother, but if it stalls again i guess im gonna have to get a new fuel strainer and a new pump.

I had a similar thing happen to me today actually, only my car had never done this. I took a slow turn in a parking lot and the engine started stumbling then stalled. It started hard after a few seconds, but the problem hasn't shown up again yet.

beckstyle: Did your bonnie start yet? What you may have happened is the fuel lost all pressure, and that took too long for the pump to pressurize, and maybe if you prime it, you can fix that.

You can be cheap, and turn the ignition on for 20 seconds, then off, and on again several times. Or, you can connect the green wire just hanging there by the battery to any +12volt source.. for I don't know.. for as long as you want I guess. If i de-pressurize the fuel system, I always have to do re-prime my fuel system.. I'm just going to ignore it, because I still have 41psi at the rail..

Well i did get it restarted yesterday morning. It started up and i brought it back to my house which was close. Then i went to an auto store to get a new fuel filter (hoping this might help) and a can of seafoam. I tossed on the new fuel filter and put some of the seafoam in the engine (brake booster line) and did what they told me to do. It seems to be running smoother. If that doesn't fix the problem and it happens again, what do you reccomend i do? A new fuel strainer in need? How hard of a process is it to do a new fuel strainer, while I'm at it I will probably do a new fuel pump too. Let me know how difficult this is.

I just went through this. Drop the tank and check the pump and strainer. Also check the baffles inside the tank, they tend to fall apart.

It'* amazing.. my car = 16 years old. I have been about 1 to 2 needle lengths into E, and made it up my 45* driveway incline, made a turn I should have made a 90* turn at 45 [wide roads ], and done heaps of other stuff.. my baffles are fine, strainer is fine, and fuel pump is fine.. and then a few years later GM changed something.. and they have problems.. I wonder why they changed what works just fine? Damn Hippies! loL
