Default fuel pump

Hi all,
I did some searching for the process of to remove the fuel pump from my 98 SE.
I did find a few talking about it, but nothing on the whole process. I need to know this, because I'll have to go it alone this time. Still broke from the last time it went to the shop,
for that common prob, upper mani/gasket/ Dex Cool . So I have no choice. And I need this car running, since I have on it for DD.

Default pump

Thanks for the consern. But Im more than capible. I just need to know the proceedure so I can get it started and done. And If I do at some time need the help, I have a few people I can call. But none of us have had the experince with this . But if we can get someone to lay the proceedure out, we can do it. And have u ever had to remove a gas tank from a 73 Imlala or simular? I have , and know that this one would be no doubt way lighter.
So, Please if anyone knows the Proceedure, please resopnd.

This is an easy one person job IMO and I've done about 5. Planning on doing mine soon as well.

Drive as much fuel out as possible in preparation. When the tank is low on fuel, it'* lighter. If you are in a rust area of the country (I'm unsure about TN) then plan on new tank straps.

Remove the fuel pump fuse and run it out of fuel to relieve pressure or use schrader valve on fuel rail.
Jack and support the rear of the car.
Lower rear of exhaust and support
Unhook the fuel lines near the tank (depending on year as to where/when you do this step)
Disconnect filler and vent tubes from filler neck (keep hoses on fuel tank...this will give you a way to keep remaining fuel from spilling)
Unhook the electrical connection near rear of tank
Support the tank with a piece of wood and jack.
Unbolt the tank straps
Lower tank down being careful of the E brake cable. (passenger side coming down first..then driver ...simply easier)
Swap the pump and reinstall.

While it'* not the OEM pump, this might give you a better visualization. Two people are HIGHLY recommended. Even though some of us have done it solo, it'* just not practical:

One thing that helped me out a lot when I dropped the fuel tank alone, was the use of a transmission jack. The broad, flat bed on the transmission jack made life VERY nice when trying to reposition the tank in perfect position to refasten the mounting straps.

If you have one available, I highly recommend you utilize it.

I've been known to put a piece of plywood (about 18"x18" on my floor jack. While it'* not a trans jack, it'* a low cost rig.

I dropped my tank onto one of my creepers, then wheeled it out.

Honestly guys.. Pat and Pete were both present for the Heap of Crap tank drop. Took us 15 minutes (not caring is great) and it was out and was half full.

While working on a lift is great, this is not that hard to do in the garage w/o a lift.

Dumb question - did you check the fuse and CB?
