Default Draining the radiator

I have a 93 SSEi and have been having false low coolant warnings. I would like to drain enough coolant to examine the sensor. I'm having trouble finding the drain valve or plug.

Bottom driver side corner, facing the engine. Might be a little tight and hard to reach, but it'* meant to turn by hand.

I just removed mine yesterday (had to replace the thermostat).

You might have to use a pair of needle nose to break the plug loose. It'* kind of tight to get a hand in there.

I have a cool cheat for this problem. I have a 3-4 foot piece of vacuum hose sitting around that I feed into the radiator up against the front actually. Barly start it by mouth...barely...then put into a bottle. It siphons just enough in a minute to do a t stat or that sensor you are talking about.

I couldn't see my petcock even after I was told it was on the d/*. Basically impossible to see and it drains all over the frame etc from what I hear.....

My cheater way...no mess, no fuss, no problem.

I just did it again tonight.!!!!! Got the cheat down to a science.

That hose only really fits toward the front of the radiator...

Wait til you try it.

Neighbors and mechanically inclined friends look at you really funny. So before you do it kick them out of the garage. This one'* between you and the engineers at GM that located the petcock there.

That petcock is easy to get to if you remove the body skirt that connects from the front frame rail (directly under the radiator), back to the engine support rail. It takes about 10 minutes to remove it. Nonetheless, your method is better. Just wanted to shoot you the FYI!

skirt? you mean the black underpanel or the little black airdamn? Surely you don't mean the actual body panels down there
