Default Anybody ever hear of a code coming up "ignition toggle"?

A mechanic put a tester on my car while it was acting up and the code came up , he said "ignition toggle" or something like that. Mine is a 94 and he said it'* older then what they are used to working on and it didn't jog his memory what it meant but his job on the car was already done so he didn't go research it. Does anybody know, or ever hear of that or something similar?

I'm going to encourage you again to keep related posts in the same thread.

Please try the search function, ignition toggle" sounds familiar. Also please add the code number if he gave it to you.

RS, I apologize for locking your thread. It seemed and does seem related to your other thread regarding the car stalling from a possible crank sensor/pcm.

Please accept the apology as this seemed to be a continuation.

BTW, did a quick Advanced Search and found this thread https://www.gmforum.com/t277787/ under ignition toggle. While it'* not a complete thread, it does list the code and I am going to search on that next.

And by searching the code

Tada

The OP'* issue was corrected with a new ECU/PCM.

It'* probably the cause of your stalling issue as well.

I don't have the code itself unfortunately. He just said it showed ignition toggle. I'm sure that could be many things.

I have to say, ever since I have had the car, I can hear the fuel pump running. I always thought that was kind of normal for GM'* but I'm not sure. I was always under the impression that fuel pumps rarely show signs of going out, they just go.

The reason this comes up is because when I start my car, I always turn on the ignition and allow the fuel pump to prime the lines. When I hear the pump stop running, after just a second or so, I'll start the car. Sometimes, when I turn on the ignition to prime the lines, the fuel pump runs but it just keeps running as if the car is running and it'* pumping fuel. I find this strange.

Could a bad fuel pump set off an ignition toggle code? Should i go ahead and put in a new fuel pump now, before I get stranded. Or does the fuel pump sound, and the way it'* acting sound pretty normal in your experiences?

I guess I could have a bad ignition control module. I don't know anything about that or how to change it though.

I know you said i could buy a used pcm, and I still have the site you gave me. The new crank sensor is in and so far it is running good. (that'* not saying much because it would run good for a week or a few days before then it would act up, so time will tell on this one) Are new pcm'* extremely expensive? NAPA said $135 for one but I was wondering if he looked up the correct part. It seems like if it'* the actual computer, it would cost much more then that. I found one on that site you gave me in a town close by for $60, used. Is it worth the risk to go ahead and buy a used one?

Could this be caused by an injector that is stuck open? If so, what might cause that?

Injectors can get debris in them and stick. Because they are electrically fired, a bad connection can cause them to not fire correctly. You should be able to hear the injectors clicking. If not, clean the connection, add some dielectric grease and try it again. If it still doesn't fire, chase down the wire and look for abrasion, etc.
