MUFFLER OPTIONS / ADVICE
The muffler on my 99 SSEi has a few leaks and will need replacement shortly. I have found it difficult to locate a replacement at the local auto parts stores. Midas quoted me abt $500 for muffler & tailpipes. Any suggestions as to where I can find a good quality replacement? I would like to keep the exhaust note as factory sounding as possible. Thanks in advance.

well if you want to keep it as factory sounding as possible than yes i would go to midas and just have a factory replacement put on unless you could just go there get the pipes bent for your car and you can put them on it depends on if you like doing mods your self or professionally(by the way welcome to the club)

Yes, Welcome to BC!
I did a quick search on GMPD for you. They list your muffler with the exit pipe as P/N 25646313 and priced, with shipping at about $216 (that was using my zip code).
1999 SSEi Muffler w/Pipe
You could purchase that and have any good muffler shop cut yours off and weld in the new one. They should not charge more than $50 max to do that, IMO.

Welcome to the BC. I would guess that it would be cheaper to go after market, unless you can find a bonneville muffler on ebay or something. Maybe try looking for a factory camaro/firebird muffler online, they are almost the same and I would think they would be a very factory sound. IMO

Hang in...I'm acutally on the exact same search for my 97 SSEi. We are the exception to swapping out for a different sound. I like the quiet sleeper aspect.
Did a quick search and found Rockauto.com to be $137 shipped to my address in CT for the muffler and tail pipes for Vin 1...all should be the same for your car.
Muffler M2237 $81
Right tail M14727 $24
Left tail M14726 $24
Shipping $9
Total $137 to my door.
Ooopsie. I just bought it. Thanks for posting. I needed to get this done and have been poking along.
