1995 Bonneville Oil leak...
Wow, just found out that I have some sort of oil leak toward the front of the engine. My oil level light came on and I checked. I'm pretty low on oil. I can't tell where it is, because the underside is wet and the front side is wet. The back side (windshield side) is fine though.
What are the known problems with oil leaks on this car? Sending unit? I heard there is an oil level switch that goes bad in the oil pan. Where could this leak be?

I've had leaks from the valve cover gaskets. If they are old, they might need to be replaced.
You could check the sending unit, but that'* not something that'* very common.

Well, I just went outside and looked. It'* pretty wet around the head facing the front. The rear head looks dry. The oil pan has fresh oil around the drain plug too. Since' I'm savvy on engines, is the valve covers and oil pan gasket hard to replace? I've got to stop by and put some oil in. I bet I'm two quarts low. But I'll clean it up this evening and look around on the ramps.

The valve covers aren't too bad. It'* just annyoing getting everything out of the way. The rear one was a pain to do. But there is less room in W-Body'* under the hood.

The oil pan gasket isn't too bad to change either. The tricky thing with the oil pan gasket is that you have to remove the oil pickup tube. Removing that involved changing the gasket between the block and the tube flange. That gasket is avaliable at the dealer for $.87.
Don't use any RTV on any of the components. Just make sure everything is VERY clean and dry.
