Default 98 SE - A/C recharge only lasts about a month

Well, you guys saved me $ the last time I had trouble so here goes. I had the A/C recharged about a month ago and it worked great until now. At the time I had it recharged they put dye in the system to see if they could see the leak. Well, it didn't show up that day so they sent me on my way. I was hoping it would last the whole summer. Now the car is 600 miles away from that shop and blowing warm again. I'd like to check for the obvious before starting over with a new shop.
First, what is the best way to look for the dye? Do I need a light? Is it easier to see from the top or from under the car?
Second, I know sometimes these things fail across the board, is there a common fault that I should look at or replace first? Any pointers would be great. Thanks

The first place i would look would be the evap core housing, since you h aven't seen it anywhere else yet. You can look into it from the engine bay using these instructions. http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=63

Last time I saw A/C dye, it was yellow and could be seen with normal light. Flush some water through the evap housing and see if it runs out with a yellow tint under the car.

Flush a little water at a time so as not to flood the housing and your carpet!

Are you sure its out of refridgerant? I had a similar issue and it turned ou to be the heater door actuator. Seems to be a common problem on these cars. I got lucky when I pulled mine out, it just needed cleaned and lubed. Most of them have a broken gear. Do a search on it and you will find excellent information on this subject.
