Autozone has some problems with quality assurance on their alternators.

If you have a bad alternator, replace the battery as well if it'* over a year old. A weak battery will kill a new alternator. Always replace them in pairs, or you'll be caught in a cycle like you are.

A weak alternator will stress a battery by constantly under-charging it. Then the Alternator eventually fails, leaving you with a weak battery. Now your new alternator is working extra hard to keep the weak battery charged.

You see the point

But to be sure, you do need to clean all your connections at BOTH ends of ALL cables. Disconnect, clean, reconnect. All cables, all mating surfaces.

He was saying that a series of weak alternators will cause premature death of a battery. Happened to me. Had to goet a new battery two months after the alt took a poo on me.

Well, if your car can start just fine after sitting a few hours, the battery is probably ok for now. Not to say it won't go, it might. But I wouldn't buy a new one until I was sure. Autozone or Sears should be able to test the battery.

To go through 15 alternators in a short amount of time means there has to be a bad ground or short somewhere that is overworking the alternator. You need to find that. Where to start looking, I don't know.
