im having alor of air bubbles pop up in my power sterring fluid to the point where it whines when i turn sometime and i check the fluid and its a frothy mess and then the air compressor i think runns all the time even when the car is off what causes theese 2 problems please help

which car are you talking about?

the compressor runs sometime even if the car is off, if the rear shocks are getting low.. no worries there, unless its draining your battery...

Frothy mess may be a hole in one of the power steering lines or the fluid cooler. How does your level seem to be?

The air compressor like Harofreak mentions is probably coming on because of a leaking ELC strut in the rear of your car.

Search on ELC Strut with an author of Willwren, follow the link to his personal page. Tons of great info and possibilites.

If your system is running 'all the time' you either have a short in the system (not likely) or very leaky struts.

FYI, the Reflex struts listed on that page are no longer available. Sensatrak'* are the best option.

thanks for all the help im still trying to find the problem with the struts and the frothy mess in the fluid chamber is like foamy power steering fluid and this is on my storm trooper the b/w 94 sse

You might just want to fill the PS reservior and bleed the rack. I know what you are talking about with the foamy fluid... kinda looks like a freshly poured Guiness. My PS system was completely disassembled for over a month as I had the car back and forth getting the engine compartment painted. Upon reinstallation of the engine, I had to add/bleed the system 2 or three times before the fluid looked like it should.

To bleed the rack, jack & support the front end off the ground a few inches. Add fluid, start engine and turn steering wheel left and right all the way until it stops several times. Shut engine down and check fluid level. Repeat if necessary.
