HELP.....95 Bonny no run....
My 95 started to idle weird just before I shut her off to go in the house and after 5 mins (motor up to temp) she would'nt start at all but just turned over and over. Eventually after a few tries she started but idled badly and surged in the rpms then died. She will start now and run for a few seconds but idles crappy and then dies..........I changed the fuel filter and she "seems" to be getting good fuel pressure at the rail. I pulled each coil wire one at a time while cranking and get sparks everywhere sop they "may' be ok? Any ideas what it is and how I read the codes? She has the OBD II port but is an OBD 1.5 I believe.........how can I read the codes without a scanner? Can I use the paper clip method at the diagnostic port? I also unplugged the MAF and tried to start her in default mode but she wont start at all with it unplugged? Some history.............plugs/wires/02 sensor are all new less than 3k miles ago...........air filter is clean and EGR valve is new.......anybody any ideas or some back yard troubleshooting ideas? Thanks guys.......

have you had your fuel pressure checked?
Along with what Dan said it also could be a failed fuel pressure regulator.
To check pull the vacuum line off the regulator and if you see wetness/gas in the vacuum line than its a bad regulator for sure.

Sorry to say but I'd start with a real FP test. It can be misleading looking at the amount that comes off the valve when you press it.
Being the plugs and wires are that new..I'd skip those. Codes would need to be read with a scanner that can do the obd2 plug with obd1 codes. And this one fact is a killer.
Your pcm is located up under the passenger kick panel of the dash. It actually lays on the floor/firewall. Has red, white and blue connectors. Try tapping on it a bit. Check the connectors.
Could be pcm, maf, iac, tps.
A bad pcm..well...let'* say you have one of the two flakiest pcm years.
Bad maf could tell the pcm too much or too little air. You can get it to learn the maf being unplugged and running off the tables by using a little throttle and keeping it running for a couple min.
Bad tps could again be telling the pcm to shut off fuel etc.
IAT shouldn't hurt it. Many of us have left them unplugged..it defaults values if the iat goes bad.

UPDATE..........I broke down and bought a fuel pressure tester and found that the FP does'nt even reach 20 psi under any circumstances. I swapped out the fuel pressure regulator with no change and since the filter is new I now suspect the pump. I jumped the fuel pump at the test plug (this bypasses the ignition and runs the pump directly right?) at the battery and the fuel pressure still didnt rise above 15-20 psi so I think the pump sock is clogged or the pump is going out..............is so this is a tank out job Right?? The car WILL start and run for a few seconds but sputters and dies.........

Does seem your pump gave out.
Dropping the tank isn't fun, but it'* not impossible. I'd pick up a new set of straps to have on hand. Many times the bolts fight and the straps get cut to take the tank out.

Thanks Bill but I already looked at it and I dont want to tackle it since the tank is full and its a PITA so I have a mobile mechanic coming to the house to do it for $150 since I already bought the pump..........I'll be a nice guy and spray some penetrating lubricant on the strap bolts so they are nice and soaked by tomorrow.......
