After freeze-over, wipers don't shut off
1993 Bonneville SE black.
One morning there was a large amount of ice on the wipers, and the wipers were on when I started the vehicle. I turned them off right away. While I was at work, the ice melted completely in the afternoon sunshine.
But when I started my car, I found that the wipers would not turn off. In the "high speed" setting, they wipe fastest. In the "off" position, they wipe fast, but a little slower. If I put them in the "delay" section, they wipe slowest. Until I can get this fixed, I have them on the delay setting.
Any idea what I would need to replace and what would be involved? Is this a problem with the switch, the wiper motor, or something else? Your replies are much appreciated.

same thing happened to me. Contacts on harness that connect the wiper motor get wet and start acting funny. when I disconnected, there was also oxidation. I just cleaned it really good, remove as much gunk as I could and they started working OK. Hope it helps!
