I found out the reason why my exhaust tips looked odd when one of them fell off today in the shop here at Intense. Apparently someone ground down the outside of the collar of the passenger side stock tip, shoved it INSIDE the pipe, and clamped it in place - who knows why?! Basically the then thinned aluminum inlet of the tip rotted away inside the pipe with no means to repair the original tip. I'm currently thinking of the best way to remedy the situation, but my back end is gonna look a little goofy for a bit here. I could use a new muffler too sice this one is on its way out, but I like the quieter sound of the stock muffler - anyone know the part #?

If I get a new stock muffler and a couple of the popular dual-outlet slanted stainless tips (2.25" ID inlet), will I be set to take it to an exhaust shop and have them fab it together?

I really don't want to drive around with a uni-tip rear but it looks to be the only way right now. I was thinking of just having them hack off the other tip to balance things out

Bob...I looked around for a stock replacement from all the local parts places and found nothing. Rockauto ended up being the way to go for me. They have a couple stock replacements and the outlet pipes. From there you are on your own for tips.

Found mine on Ebay and would recommend that you make sure you find stainless steel.

I think the Rockauto order shipped to me was $128 (muffler and two tail pipes) and the tips were ~$100

If you are looking for the stock sound (maybe a slight bit more sound) with the stock piping..that'* the way I went.

Assuming the new muffler comes with those two pipes, any reason why I SHOULDN'T hack off that other tip? I'd rather have none than one I think...

Ok, I guess I just realized those two pipes don't come with the muffler. Looks like I'd need WALKER Part # 52288 annd 52289. Explain how one side costs $1 more...

So going back to me just cutting off the other "good" tip. Would I need to get new pipe there anyway since the original tip is welded on? Or since the dual slant replacement tip is longer (I thiiink), would I be good to just cut it directly behind the good tip?

OR...Do I need new pipes anyway because I'm replacing the muffler?

I don't have your answer for this last question, but wanted to note that you should keep an eye on your total cost for the mufflre and two tips, plus *&H. If it'* more than the $216 from GMPD, which includes the tail pipes, you might want to review.

Of course, we all know that GMPD'* shipping can sometimes be slow.
