bonneville vs. lesabre issues: long with pics...help plz
i recently put a used engine into my 96 SE. the engine was a low mileage series II from a 1999 lesabre. i thought i had everything done right, but then i found that the mount for the heater hose is rubbing on the serpentine belt as seen below (notice the trenches in the belt as well)
i found out why this happens...in the lesabre motor, the power steering pump is placed more to the back of the engine (back when facing the front of the car), which routes the belt that wacko way. now i thought that this was just a simple odd mount, as i noticed that the pump was in a different place when i put it on, but it'* not simple...observe (the belt on the steering pump is seen on the left and the motor mount bolt is in the lower right)
there are two more holes that would place the pump closer, but there is a spacer(?) that is outward further, and if i were to put the pump there, the belt wouldn't line up, it would put the pump off to the side.
those two holes had bolts in there, but i can't figure out a way to get the darn thing off...not sure if it even comes off at all..
i tried to change the tensioner assembly, but the bonnie alternator doesn't mount on it, so i'd have to get a different alternator.
anyone here have lesabre experience? can i swap a lesabre PS pump with mine?
sorry it had to be so long, but i want to do this right...this is the last problem with the car, and it'll be perfect...thanks in advance for any help

maybe im not understanding 100%, but you should be swapping the Bonneville bracket back on, and then using the Bonneville alternator... shouldnt have to get a Saber alternator

i'm currently using both the bonnie tensioner assembly and alternator. the tensioner assembly i tried to swap that i mentioned earlier was from the sabre motor, it was included with it. my alternator doesn't on with it. also, the sabre tensioner assembly has the things for the heater hoses going the other way, but it could still work with a bit of modding. do you mean the bracket that'* on the alt? can it be removed? the whole alt. felt wrong when i put it on the sabre tensioner assembly. maybe it was my imagination...or the vicodin i had that day (i had surgery not long before then)
i'll look again when i have some free time, i just took off my tensioner assembly and put it back on about a week ago, i'm not quite up for doing it again yet.
