Default Belt squeal. How do I make it stop?

My belt was replaced 7 months ago so its not broken or anything. What causes belt squeal? How do I stop it? Thanks

an old trick is dishsoap.

are you sure it is the belt and not the water pump or alternator going out?

Im not sure at all.

All I know is I just hear a sqeual when I step on the gas. Thats a good sign that my alternator or water pumps about to go out? Or does it just happen?

Use belt dressing. If it goes away, order a gatorback, but take your time. If it doesn't go away, it'* time to dig further.

Fix the oil leak or the weak belt tensioner. Thats a common cause of belt squeal.

Default belt

Mine too is squealing / squeaking.
I used to spray the belt dressing and it would stop. Yesterday I got the can out and it was clogged.
I also lube the tensioner pully with a little gear oil and it helps.

Auto parts store has a belt conditioner and it has a spray straw, like the WD40 can. Spray that close to the belt both sides of the belt, and try not to get other parts with it. That will do. And makes a cool sound, like an airplane turbine.

Good luck.
