I will add it to the list of what to look at.
But would that not send/leave a code ?

And that was a 99 as well ?
Im really goin nuts here, so anything that relates Im ready to check out.
What is baffling is the fact that the "Rear Defrost" light comes on during failure before the "Check Engine" light.
"Rear Defrost" ???? What the hell is that to do with anything ???
"Im Sooo Confused" ???

Default Just Noticed Something ?

While idling in the driveway I gave it gas.
Received a very slight back fire sound.

Id read elsewhere here that a plugged Cat could possibly cause some of the problems that we are having.
Could a plugged Cat cause our 99 to just shut down. While at the same time not leave any codes ??
I would think that if that was the case, there would be some sort of emissions code ?
Like said its a 99, and as far as I know, the whole exhaust system is original. Could that "maybe" be the problem ?

So to check that I will need to remove the plastic cowling around the steering column ?
Is that all that would need to be removed ?
I dont personally want to begin disassembling things. But if its as simple as just removing the cowling and peekin round then Im good for that.

But BTW. Any step by step on to that removal ?

its a job not bad if you have the right tools . have to remove the air bag then the steering wheel then remove the turnsignal cam from the colum then you can see the cylinder. when the car dies does the security light come on when you try to start it

No
No security light.
Just before it dies the Rear Defrost light will come on, (the light on the defrost button), and then "once" its dead, the Check Engine light comes on too.

Default By Jove I Think We've Got It

After the dealer pulled out and re-did all the wiring under the driver side dash; they were 99.9 % sure it was fixed. But just in case, they hooked up a by pass toggle switch in case it died and was again a no start. It apparently by passed all the other electrical, turned on the dash, and would let it start with the key.

My wife was on her way to work, and while sitting first in line for the left turn advance, at the busiest intersection in that area, It Died.
The switch helped to get it started. But it would not run. The instant the gas pedal was even looked at it would die. It was sputtering and chugging and just bad bad bad.

Got another tow to the dealer. And Thank The heavens Above !!! For the first time after months, the car wouldnt start at the dealer either. Finally got repeat symptoms for them.

The problem was a bad ground wire somewhere under the carpet on the drivers side.
Replaced the ground and all was good.
Put the bad one back and same exact symptoms.
Put the good one back on and all was good.
They did that a few times and it repeated. All has been good since.

No charge for all the time trying to diagnose the problem. No charge for all the re-wiring that was done. Just gave her the keys and told her that they were 110 % sure that its now fixed.
She actually got a call from them the other day while she was at work. They wanted to check and see if all was still good.

Just a stupid ground wire

Glad to hear you got it. Those grounds can be a real pain.
