Default 98 SEE Gas/Check Gages Light Problem

As the title said, I have a 1998 Bonneville SSE, about 130 000 kilometers.

The problem is kind of two-fold, but I am not quite sure if they are connected.

Whenever I take a sharp turn, the check gauges light dings on, even though fluid levels appear to be high.

Also, the gas gauge is never accurate, it will bounce back and forth at least 1/8 of a tank, up to 1/4 of a tank, it is getting to the point it is never accurate.

Any idea what could be causing this, and if they could be connected?
I have a friend who knows far more about cars than I do helping me try and figure it out this weekend, but I figured you guys could point us in the right direction of what to look for.

The only other note is the tail lamp warning is on, but we think it is a loose wire, as we just replaced the bulb and the tail lamp warning seems to go on and off.

Thanks for the help, hopefully this hasn't been answered and I missed it in my searching and that I gave all the relevant information.

Hi,

Welcome to the Bonneville Forum!

On to your cars issues...

Start with looking at this thread on possible bad ground problems.

https://www.gmforum.com/t278980/

Also for the tail light coming on and off again; have you inspected the socket for corrosion?

If you see corrosion than clean it up with some steel wool and apply dielectric grease after you made it all shinny again.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks for checking in here first! If your friend needs assistants this weekend just have him ask and we will help.

Todd
