93 SSEi Body Kit Repair
My 93 SSEi has the body kit. The passenger door body trim is comming off. I have the clips to reattach it but I am wondering two things. How the heck does it come off and go on and is it a DIY job or should I bite the bullet and get a body shop to do it? The trim piece in question is the passenger door trim right where the door hinges are located.

It'* a fairly easy affair to take off. You will (I think anyways) need to take out the wheel splashguard to get the the backing nuts on that trim piece, and there are a few screws that are actually in the wheelwell lip, and a few on the bottom.

TY sandrock. I wasnt sure. Just to clarify. If you look at the pic of your car (white 93). Right below the SSEi logo on that trim piece is where its comming off (pass side).

So you are talking about the door trim, and not the wheel arch endpiece...ok, new plan.
You do not need to take the door panel off to do this. First thing is that black stripe that runs down the center of the door. That will *pop* out of the chanel, but be careful when doing so. After that is off, the top part of that trim will be loose from the door, but you still have the bottom to contend with.
On the inside of the door, near the bottom (and again, this is outside of the interior panel, so keep that in mind), there will be a screw that you can take out. There may be two...one on each end, but I am not clear on that. After you take the screw(*) out, you will be able to pull the trim off of the door.
Now, provided there are no broken plastic retainers, you will want to start with the top first when reinstalling, then take the palm of your hand and quickly rap near where the plastic retainers are located to seat the bottom, then apply the screws to the backside.
Let me guess....your cladding is causing the door to jam up when you open it, right?

LMAO....good guess. Yes the trim popped off its plastic mounts and is catching on the door when opening. I got some new clips for the top and bottom just incase they are broken. The black strip has popped out of the first clip. Have to say. According to the friend I have at GM I think I found the last clips in Canada...LMAO.

When replacing a fender, I found a metal strip behind each front wheel that has wide enough holes for you to "adjust" how far the fenders stick out. That can help the body cladding not hit. If you want to get to that, remove said splash guard and look behind the wheel. There are 2 10mm bolts - one on the fender and one on the chassis. Loosen one and pull the fender slightly out, then tighten. See if that helps. If not, loosen the other one and see what happens. I overdid mine, and it sticks out. :( But I'll get to it in warmer weather. Be sure to adjust your fender so it continues to flow nicely, and the door cladding should no longer interfere with the fender. This may have happened because the bolts that hold that adjusting piece may have let go over time. I've never really found out why this happens.
