Default Surgical idea to get at trans shift solenoid under side cover

Ok , some people will think/ type I am going straight to hell. Here goes. I have shift solenoid A dead short. It it the solenoid I assume as I check wiring, connector, etc. I have researched the process and for a $500 car I don’t really want to spend the day dropping all that needs dropped to take the side cover off. I know right where it is and wondered about the idea of die grinding a 3 sided window and opening a hatch in the side cover to get to it, then epoxy it shut... I have nothing to loose and can get $400 for the car from the local U Pull It. Also, I would not mind being a test.

First, it may be to tight in that area to get a die grinder in there. Also, your going to get a lot of aluminum shavings in side the cover. And that'* a rather sensitive area. The wire harness also is in that area, and you risk cutting that. It'* really not that hard to lower one side of the transmission to get the cover off. A few hours of work, I've done it a few times.

Danthrus, do you have a link to the process for lowering trans? Do I lower the craddle or just trans & engine? Does exhaust need to come off? just unbolt top of drivers side strut?
