All right, I know this isn’t a Bonneville but I believe it uses the same base as the Bonneville’* from those years, and that’* good enough for me!

Here’* the scoop, my sister happened to run into the back of a smaller Mazda pickup truck with her (’90 or ’91) 6000 LE. Just happens that his bumper is the same height as the grill and lamp assemblies on the 6000 LE. I'm the lucky one who has too see what I can do to fix it up. Here are the pics that I took.

Three of the four light assemblies are broken apart along with the grill that is in pieces. The drivers’ side quarter panel is really messed up at the front tip. The hood now has a slight bow to it and the nose of the hood is buckled fairly decently. I already removed all the loose components, which was mainly one of the fog lights and the entire center grill.

The fun part was getting the hood open. I had to remove the brace that runs up in front of the radiator so I could loosen the area of the latch up enough to be able to pry it open with a crowbar. When the nose of the hood buckled in it also bent the whole area where the latch is down at the front edge pinching the hood shut. It was real fun trying to get at the top of the bolts to remove enough bracing so I could open it. Since the headlamp assemblies were broken I just used clear packaging tape over them for now to keep the road grime off of the bulbs.

I am going to need to replace the entire center grill and lamp area of the car. I may need to replace the hood and fender too to make sure everything fits right since it all got jacked.


So here’* what I’m looking for:

1) Part numbers and prices for any part of the front grill or headlamp assemblies, including all the mounting pieces around them.
2) Part numbers and prices for the hood and driver side quarter panel
3) Time estimates on replacing parts that are damaged
4) Any tips or tricks you may have that I could use since I havn'e done this much body work on a car before (even though it seems pretty easy)

I will also try hitting up some junkyards to see if I can find some good used parts as well. It would be nice to know more about what I am looking for and should expect to pay when I go though since I haven’t had to buy parts from a scrap yard before. Plus it will help my sister and my dad (who actually owns the car and was kind of pissed ) to figure out how much of it they want to fix.

Overall the car is in great shape for it’* age and is worth fixing up. I mean hell; it only has 88,000 original miles (used to be my grandmothers if that explains it). So any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, the Mazda truck had NO damage on it at all since it was it’* rear bumper it used to demolish the grill. There’* a picture of the “guilty party” on the link as well.

Due to generating leads for sc swap engines for non-sc Bonneville’* I have quite a few yard links now and I will ask around. I have to call tomorrow for some parts for myself so it is perfect timing.

BTW: FYI, a 6000 & a Bonneville have nothing in common except that they're both made by Pontiac. The Buick Century & Pontiac 6000 are simular chassis'
