Unhappy 1999 Bonnevilee SLE Starts and stalls within 10-15 Seconds

This one has me, and Pep Boys, stumped. I have a 1999 Bonneville SLE, VIN K, 154,000 miles. Car has, until recently, started and run flawlessly. About a week ago, car started and stalled within 15 seconds. Each attempt to restart would kick over, but then stall immediately. The chime would ding 4 times each time it stalled.

First check I did was check the schrader valve for fuel pressure, just would get a trickle. I then installed a new fuel pressure regulator and MAP sensor, no difference. Towed to Pep Boys. They told me I needed a new fuel pump (sounded logical) so they installed a new pump, sending unit and fuel filter. Picked up the vechile, it started and ran flawlessly for two days (about 150 miles). Security light seems to function normally. Stays off beyond ignition (doesn't flash or stay on steady).

On day three, started the vehicle, ran for 10-15 seconds and stalled out again. Back to same no start conditions exactly as they were prior to the new fuel pump installation. Now I started to replace parts:

-new battery (existing one was 5 years old anyway)
-new fuel pump (already mentioned)
-new fuel sending unit relay
-fuel filter
-MAP sensor
-PCM (flashed to my VIN)
-Ignition module
-Checked Pass Key fuses

Another strange issue - sometimes my driver side window works, somethimes not - same with my driver side power seat, however the passenger power seat works fine. Seems electrical or maybe PASS KEY related. Does this sound like a ground short somewhere? Buss grounds maybe? Pep Boys cannot find anything electrical wrong with the car. Completely at a loss on this one.

Check into the ground busses that are located by each front door sill plate. Actually have seen threads where stomping a left foot while driving could cause issues/keep the car running. That'* ground related, if you can make that correlation.

I actually pounded on those areas with my fist which did not seem to make any difference. I'll have the Tech at Pep Boys (former GM Tech) pull the carpet up near those sill plates to see if he can find corrosion provided he doesn't find anything different first. This has become a real pain in the a**. I will certainly post for all what the resolution is once its determined so others don't invest $$$ stupidly like I did when frustrated.....

Default Stalling Bonneville Issue RESOLVED!!

Turns out the ground buss under the driver side kick panel was corroded. That buss controlled the driver side power seat, power windows and the fuel pump. The critical piece of information I provided to Pep Boys was that the windows and seat were acting up as well as the fuel pump condition. That led them right to that buss, which has been suggested in the forums as a potential culprit.

Thanks to all for their input!

Am I sure GLAD I read your post as well as the replies you recieved. I am having the EXACT same problem with my car (1995 Bonneville SE) and would not know to look in that area for a ground buss. I don't know what that is, but I'll look for it. I am thinking my 95 has got to have the same thing. Can you believe it? I just joined today and I have a lead. Things and locations can change in three years difference, but I am hoping not. I will be installing a new fuel pump and sending unit but I actually need to. If that is wjat it is - Bless you! You saved me a lot of work. Bless you again!

JohnnyBe,

How did you make out regarding the ground issue? Is it resolved?
