So apparently my car slowly leaked transmission fluid over my 1700 mile journey to Boston and back and to Dayton. I get back and one night it wouldnt go into torque lockup.

We take it in and they tell us that it was 3qts low and had gotten VERY HOT over that time. They added fluid and a conditioner. Two days later on my way back from dayton third gear and fourth gear burned up. Dont know if fluid was still leaking or whatnot. I still had first and second so my car could go 35mph for about 2 minutes before the trans started to overheat again (according to the OBD i had on the SECOND trip but not on the Boston trip)

Moral: WATCH YOUR TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURES, and monitor your fluid closely as this did not throw any codes in the car.

At this point we have taken it to two independent mechanics, and looking 1100-1800 to have it rebuilt with the new parts.

Is it more worth while to have it rebuilt, or buy a used one (wiht the chance of all this happening again)

L67 transmissions wont mate correctly to my car, correct? So upgrading is out of the question.


Suggestions... please?

I'd say get it rebuilt cause it looks like your trying to hold on to your car for a while.
A hd trans will bolt up but has a lower gear ratio that will need to be programmed in. I have no idea if the axles are the same length or if the trans' wiring is plug and play. Theres probably a much longer list of variables as well.

the HD trans will have a different gear ratio than your car. You could get a custom burn to accomidate, or just get your trans bulit up with the HD parts. I know there is somewhere that has HD parts for the 60-E
