Default Finding the Right 4T60-E in a sea of GM confussion...

today I went to the junkyard, a U-Pick somewhere in the south.

There i found a 96 buick skylark.... To my surprise it had a sticker that said, Runs and Drives.... it was a collision loss car with 28,000 orginal miles on it..... !

a 4T60-E jewel lay beneath its hood ..... what..... a modulator ? what luck.....

ok, so whats the deal here... this transmission is mated to a 3100 engine, its a 96... the trans tag reads.... 616BSW it has a modulator... i thought all modulators were gone after 95....

so... I have a 94 bonnie with a trans tag of 614PFW ... my transmission is broken...

I want this other tranmission.... its nice

bolt pattern is the same, TC bolts the same, only difference is the final drive ration... fine spline sun gears and .... well.......I dont know....

anyone know if this swap will work out or disappoint me....

thanks.....

for those that may care, I just installed a 1996 buick skylark 4T60-E in my 94 bonniville.

it worked good no problems.

I had to change the shifter arm and I rewired my car to use the newer PRND switch on the transmission.

other than that, the final drive is 2.93 instead of 3.06 ( or there abouts ) and this TC has the carbon clutch in it.

My RPM is very low now, i will do some numbers when i get her on the highway.

this transmission was the one i spoke about in this thread I got it this morning at 8:30 am and just wrapped up at 2 am so it took me 14 hours to pull it from the yard, pull my trans, and put the skylark trans in...

I am beat.... going to bed.
