96 Bonneville. "hesitates while driving".
96 bonneville.
Starts great, new tune up, altenater, and battery.
After it warms up, while driving seems to "hesitate". The tac moves, or jumps when this happens.
I put it on cruise control and it does it when using that too.
Had a new fuel filter put on it, cause the other one was 80% clogged. The mechanic put some "Lucus" fuel line stuff in it. ( not sure of that brand, or what it was suppose to ).
Could the fuel injectors be plugged? Is it the air flow? Or God forbide, the transmition?
Thank you, Oh and no, I can not work on my car where I live, I am also a woman, with no tools, and please,,I love my car!!!

Hesitation in the engine probably means it is not firing properly on one cylinder. Proper firing is a combination of spark (ignition coil, plug wires and spark plugs), air and fuel (injectors, fuel delivery system). Usually a malfunction in the system will result in a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) error being registered in the computer that controls your car.
Here comes the advice.
Go to your nearest Auto Zone, and ask them to pull the DTC'* from your car. They will hook up a scanner, and read DTC'*, and tell you what codes have been registered on your computer. Once you have that code come back to the forum and tell us what the code is. That will help us to tell you what to do next.
And by the way, being a woman does not mean you can't own tools.
Added note: you mention you had a "tune up" done. Do you have the invoice from that tune up? If you do, please tell us what the invoice says was done to your car. For example, did they install new spark plugs and spark plug wires? new air filter?

Ok, I will do that tomorrow.
I moved to CA, and gave my tools to my son before I left. Guess i will just have to buy them out here.
Thank you.
PS,did they install new spark plugs and spark plug wires? new air filter? <<<< yes, everything was done a year ago.

So, I found some Lucus Fuel Injector cleaner, and put that in with a full tank of midgrade gas.
Drove it on the Freeway for over 150 miles down the coast.
It hesitated some, and then I looked, and the idiot light had came on.
The Check engine soon one. Ok, I might just have to reinvest in a scanner for my car.
I am calling my mechanic tomorrow, and ask him to look at it again. dh2
