Fuel Gauge
My fuel gauge is all the way on Full since I bought it from a used dealer. It'* a 1997 Bonneville SE. There is no way it'* still full so I was wondering if anyone else has similar problems or a thought about this.

I hear it can be a sending unit. The little electric sensor in the tank that the float is attached to goes bad and gives false gas readings. Not sure how much for replacements.

I hope it'* just a sending unit. I looked it up, can't be more than 25-30 bucks. But I'm sure the fee for installation is going to suck. Not to mention a full tank of gas will be lost.

Drive it untill empty and carry a small gas can to get you home when you get to that point. Depending on the you're mechanical abilities. it should be done in less than a day. We can post a step by step guide when you're ready.

Chris, please put your year and trim level in your signature by clicking on the profile link at the top of the page.
I'll move this topic for you. General Chat is not for mechanical problems. Please post in the proper sections.

Anyway, yea, we could walk you through this step by step if you want. You don't even have to drive all your gas away either. (just makes the tank lighter anyway)
