95 SSEi - Strange "rattling" sound
This was happening before I pulleyed and I assumed it might have been a plug wire slapping against the fan supports but it wasn't. Only when I accelerate from a dead stop, for the first second or two I hear a sound almost like two pieces of plastic smacking against one another. It goes away fast, but it happens every time I accelerate.
Boosty has heard it as well and suggested a possible exhaust manifold leak. The thing I don't understand is why I'd only hear it in those first couple of seconds. I'm sure its not just the engine noise drowning it as I can literally hear it fade away. I've checked for the obvious -- loose cables, loose fittings, and I can't seem to find anything.
Any thoughts?

Humm.. I think its definately coming from the passenger side.
I'm laid up with this chest infection and haven't driven the car in a day or two.

The couple times I heard it..I wouldn't classify it as passenger side. It wasn't an obvious side or the other.
Morty.. start it up and lift the hood...rev a couple times..listen close..you'll find it. An exhaust leak would show up as KR very quickly.

I dunno, my noise sounds like it'* almost the engine hitting the firewall and slowly going away when the torque levels allow it to drop back down, it only does it when I floor the car.....I'm thinking for me it'* motor mounts,
For Morty, seems to almost be a pulley?

The rubber separating in there could sound like plastic, but that would also affect the driveability of the car too...Or atleast the idle.

I'd really classify it as exhaust leak, aka crack in manifold and very common in your year or a pinging. Only heard it a couple times.
My suggestion is not to floor much until you can determine and correct the cause of the sound. As I remember the only time we heard it was when you mashed it.
