Getting read to do a tune up and want the part #'* for the sensors and filters that have to be replaced.
also the best plugs and wires too or would ac delco be fine??

Just get the standard plugs from your dealer or go to GMpartsdirect. The part numbers for sensors like O2 and such are on GMPD'* site, filters you have K&N or a throw away style, which ever you want there.

A lot of people get the 8mm wires of various brands. If your car is stock probably stick to OEM stuff.

I am also doing a tune-up on my 1996 Bonneville SSEi.

I went to get wires and plugs and o2, and got a little confised real quick. I , of course, don't want bosch on this car, after reading this forum.

I have a list of NGK plugs to choose from. My car is all stock, but I want to do a few mild mods in time. nothing like a race car though..

I also looked for the o2, and was given a few choices in bosch.. I'm not sure he even mentioned an ac-delco o2. There was another brand, but I don't remember what they had..


They also listed different wires, and the only thing listed for my car in 8mm were autolite'*, for around $40-$45


Can someone please advise me as to what to buy that would be the best for my car?

I don't mind speding a little more for NGK if they are really better..

Head to your local Napa for plug wires. They sell Belden wires with a lifetime warranty for a little over $30. They seem to be good quality wires and a few people around here have recommended them.

For O2 sensors, look in Tech Info for the part numbers and order from GM Parts Direct. If you're fortunate enough to have an AC Delco store in your area you may be able to get it for the same price without waiting for your part to be shipped. The only Delco product you'll find at the national parts chains seems to be an oil filter.

I stay away from Fram oil filters based on what I've seen here and on other websites. I won't put one of their fuel filters in my car, either, based on the reputation of the oil filters. I try to use Delco or Wix whenever possible. I also use a Wix fuel filter because they have a great reputation, but Delco or most other brands should work well.

As far as plugs go, I don't know that there'* anything wrong with Bosch. Avoid platinum if you're supercharged; otherwise, anything is fair game. I use regular Autolite copper 606s. They're cheap and haven't steered me wrong yet. Plus they're the official plugs of Nascar, so that'* an extra 20 hp right out of the box.

I was hoping to find the o2 locally, but if I have to order it, I guess I'll do that.. I was hoping to get these parts today, or tomorrow, and get the job done.

They have the bosch o2 locally, but most people here have found issues with them, and our bonne'* I have seen those with no issue at all though. puzzling. One member here used the bosch plugs and o2 with success.. ...maybe they play nice with the presence of a friend?

As I mentioned before, the only place you'll find a Delco O2 is either online or at an AC Delco parts store. None of the national chains that I know will deal with Delco stuff other than oil filters. I would strongly recommend using the Delco O2, not from personal experience but from stories I've read on these forums. It'll cost a little extra, but it'* a proven replacement.

As far as plugs, you should be fine using Bosch. If you've got a blower you shouldn't use platinum, but other than that there are no restrictions I'm aware of. Autolite coppers are always a safe bet, and unless you're heavily modded you probably won't be able to tell a difference between a cheap copper or expensive iridium plug. Just my opinion.
