Help with check engine codes...
Ok my dad'* 93 Bonnie SSEi has been having the "check engine" light come on everytime you take your foot off the gas/deceleration...the cable to our scanner is messed up so I took it to my buddies shop and here are the codes he gave me:
39 - Torque Converter?
56 - Quad Driver?
58 - Anti Theft?
68 - Cruise system?
There is a handful of things wrong with the car right now so I know there not all related- like about a year ago the car stopped recognizing the drivers door opening- the radio doesnt turn off, the interior lights dont come on, etc...
Any help on any of these issues would be great!!!
Thanks!

You don't need a scanner to get codes off your car. Read this:

Some of the guys have more OBD1 experience than I do. We will let them chime in on this.

Looking in Alldata for the code 56 it says if you have the code 39 too to proceed with that trouble tree first. The t/c is part of that quad driver circuit. Do you feel the t/c lockup arounf 40 mph?
If not you might have a TCC sol or Torque converter issue.

My dad had the trans rebuilt last year I think and then had to have the TC replaced 3 months later under warrenty(good quality work ), now the warrenty is out and dad'* not going to be too happy if he has to replace it AGAIN!
Ill have to ask him if he'* feeling the TC lock up or not...
last time it was obvious the TC was bad, but this time nothing feels wrong with the TC...
and yes my dad is a lifelong gearhead so I'd think I'd be something he'd notice?
Is there anything else it could be?
What is "If not you might have a TCC sol" ??? TCC Soleniod? How would we diagnose?
Thanks guys!

At this point it is safe to assume you might be going into the trans to replace a tcc solenoid or worse .
:( Do you or your father have the capacity to do that? You would need to remove the side cover on the trans to get at the tcc sol. If you can great let us know then we can move forward. If not it might be a good idea to take the car to a trusted repair facility and have them fix it.
