I have this exact problem how do i get the broke fitting out of there I do not habve the mech.. experience to take off the SC So the space is tight but please any help in the next day will be very great Suggests on getting this out as in the photo thank you !!jd

There was one of those plastic bypass elbows on my non-supercharged serpentine tensioner, and it disintigrated upon removal it was so brittle. Not one of GM'* "better ideas," more like something you would see on a Ford. I was a little surprised the bottom one was metal. I think I paid 3.49 at Autozone for the replacement, the exact same one. Could not find a metal one.

Can you fit a easy out in there? Then you should be able to just turn it out.

When my brother changed the lower and upper intake manifold gaskets on my car, the last 1/8 inch of the coolant elbow broke off in the lower intake manifold. He used a dental pick to get it out. I don't know if that helps your situation. I imagine you can buy them at a CVS.

The easy out will not be too much force is the threading aluminum? I will have to go in town and look to find one ! The dental pick is greaty idea I live in a very small town So where the heck would I find one ..My spigot end thats left in the is more tahn 3/4 of it but is in there tight maybe seized plactic hollow end what was GM thinking that is so F ing Ford of theM is there an actual reason besides lets just screw up what works and this is a pain I mean i have to get this out asaP This place as usual rocks any more ideas I will really be interested I just cant see much room and i dont want to remove the SC

Im in Canada and in a small town to boot no way to get anywhere all alone here no one to help thanks though The part I can get maybe at a wreckere here till i get to the big town then get it from the gm dealer but I need to get the seized remainer of it out 1st

Do you have any idea like what type ez out would work ?? Not much room sc and all belts wires spark wires etc all in the way I move some but not going to have room to pound much ?

92-94 all models had a plastic screwed in fitting, 95 SC was also screwed in and 95 NA was the same as the 96+ with a push in elbow.

On this car most likely that stinking thing broke off flush. Mechanics that work on these have a reversed looking step drill looking item that will grip in there and remove it.

I've heard of some folks using a strong pick to break the plastic up and then remove it piece by piece. Only down side is you want to be very careful not to leave any pieces in the intake.

BillBooster and all others in this thread, at the Bonneville forum thanks alot .. I got it out It was hammered out carefully and the piece was taken out fairly quickly The replacement here is metal and 32 bucks Can and I stated to the the dealer that I would get an aftermarket as there is one out there for about 15 well he dropped the price to 20 bucks totall taxes incl for a Gm part A deal I guess?? Not really this is really a case of taking what is simple and works to add this is insane connector well I can't see the rationale!!!! It a Lee ioccoca idea to me , But do get me wrong the Bonneville SSEI is a rocket sled I love it and would not trade it for the world and 16 yrs old and only 97,560 on it I bought it with 76,550 in Oct 2007. Sorry for digging up an old thread, I was just going to say thanks in that the search function worked well in getting me the part # for the plastic fitting. Hopefully I can find one tomorrow.

This is on a 94 SSEI (216K), and wouldn't you know it, the only ease-out I couldn't find was the size I needed for this. I can go up to a 1" pipe, but not this thing. Anyway, after trying several different things, I found I could drive in a 1/2" extension, and spin it out with a ratchet. I did use a 3/8 ratchet to push the tensioner full loose and lock it out of the way, for room.
