Default code 43

I have a 93 SSEI and am getting code 43 on scanner, spark control module failure. Does any one know where this is located on this year Bonneville and does the knock sensor ever fail ?I replaced the computer cause the manual suggested that when this code is set the epprom is bad. No such luck. Any advice or dirction would be appreciated

That code means the knock sensor is disconnected or bad, not the ECM.

Looks like it'* mounted in the engine block, below the valve covers (not under them), mounted in the engine block cooling passage, under a heat shield, which is mounted with two screws.

You may want to peek in a service manual at the auto store.

If the knock sensor is in the same place as my '92, it'* a bitch to get at. It'* located at the right rear of the block, up high close to the valve cover. It'* above the oil pressure sending unit. One way to know which one is that it has only a single wire running to it.

If you take off the right front wheel and remove the floppy shield, you can see it, but to get it out it'* best to go from underneath.

I have seen and read a lot about the threads being dirty, and even the manual says that the threads should not have anything on them, but my new one came with a sealant already on the threads, and I found that the sensor plugs up an oil passage. So I guess the theory is that even with a sealant you will get an electrical connection to the block.

You can see it in this pic. It'* about 1.5" round, on the left, to the left of the coolant passage that looks green, and has one wire. It'* peeking out around the corner of the block. My new one had sealant on the threads, too. I left it there.
