Default Never changed radiator hoses is that a problem ??

I have never changed the hoses on my Bonnie and it has 208k miles on it. Now the hoses look and feel GREAT ! Now I talked to the tech at GM garage and he said "we hardley ever chg the hoses, they are made out of different materials now and as long as they are not bulging or hard leave them alone" What do you guys think ? Again they look and feel real good

They typically do last quite long.

Squeeze at the bends and feel the outter corner.. does it feel different than say a straight section. If so..it'* wearing down and you should consider replacing them and the heater hoses.

I changed mine at 145,000 or so. That was just for preventative maintenance since I was already replacing the UIM. They didn't look too bad, just light abrasions where the clamps mash into the rubber.

Probably not a problem, yet but I'd suggest that you put it on the list of things to do. They aren't that expensive, and have a tendency to go at inconvenient times. You're about due.

Whenever I got a new used car, I replace the thermostat, coolant and radiator hoses as preventative maintenance. I learned new hoses do not necessarily mean that they will last long. The top hose in my 1984 Olds Tornado developed a pin hole leak after 1 year. That was not one of Dayco'* quality hoses. It was probably the runt of the litter. BTW, Duct Tape works wonders until you can get to a Auto Parts Store.

I agree with JR'* 3800, keep an eye on 'em yclops:

mine are original and still feel nice...

i remember, hah, my '85 Nissan Pickup, BAHAH, that thing would go through a radiator hose like every 5 mins..for absolutely no reason! It was hilarious. Got me stranded a total of yes...count em...8 times..
