traction control problem
:( the problem is with the traction control. It stays on when the traction off light is on The timing drops to about 7 or 6 degrees btdc at wide open throttle from a dead stop. it used to blister the tires. but now it might spin them over 3 times it cruses at 32 dg. I have lost horsepower from a dead stop so the tractoin control is not working correctly also, when the t.c. is on it will not activate the brakes to keep the tires from spinning. so does anyone know about this problem? please help it is a 1996 se with a supercharger with 157000

Yes, Welcome to BC!
...but we need to have information to go on in order to be able to even try and help. It would be helpful for you to just put your year, make and model/trim level in your signature.

Thanks Dame..
So you are seeing a timing decrease when you use throttle. Do you have any concrete evidence that it is indeed the TC system? My first thoughts are Knock Retard. This is a couple of sensors that are intended to read pinging and predetonation. Some exhaust leaks or rattling can cause the sensors to pick up false indications of knock and retard the timing.
Are there any other symptoms that might help us narrow this down to either TC or KR?

2 blue, use the REPLY button at the top or bottom of this thread to REPLY.
California? San Bernardino? What octane fuel are you running? At night after a good hard run, do your exhaust manifolds glow? Are you running the stock supercharger pulley, or a smaller one?
When was your last tuneup?
Traction control on your car is a two-part system. Part of it is brakes, part is retarded timing. But if traction is OFF, I don't think it'* going to pull timing. I think you have two seperate problems.
