Hard to have too many ideas when we can't look at it...
Could be a bad Ignition Control Module or the PCM... Or a break in the wiring to these items... Hard to say... You might need to find a better mechanic that knows a little about the 3800, and can hook up a scantool and see if the info from the PCM is making any sense..
At the same time both the Crank sensor and Cam sensor signals run through the ICM..

Its a possibility... we can't say that for sure being that we can't look at it...
But the ICM is the Ignition Control Module
The PCM is the Powertrain Control Module( Cars computer )
These 2 item can cuase quite a few issues... But a good Mechanic should be able to track it down... Know of any mechanics with good word of mouth?

is there a certain mileage that 94 se'* have this sort of problem? anyone? also wondering if you need to know my engine is "L".. not really sure what that means.. my car has 150, 000 miles it seems to be a the point when things are going through a round. Lots of work done recently on brakes/ and the main vents stopped working/then all the sputtering/rev issues... all seem to be unrelated..
Wondering if this could all be due to a bad fuel injector? thinking 5 isn't firing..or only sometimes..

When they changed the cam sensor did the check for the magnet?
I just changed my ICM and it did nothing. I think I'm going to try the PCM next before I break into the engine.
I'll let you know if I find the source before your mechanic.

It matters because a vacuum issue, while certainly a culprit of missing and rough running, should not throw the codes you mentioned above.
I just want to clear this up so that we don't mislead others.
