I'm not 100% sure what i need to be feeling for when i turn the pullies if it is a bearing can i pinpoint it by turning the pully? I have done the other test where you try and move it back n forth and they are all tight. The tensioner pully doesn't have any play but it doesn't seem to turn as smooth as the sc pully...I just can;t figure why the sound go'* away at higher rev?....lol oh well I'll keep poking around.

If its a bearing going out it will:

A) make some noise when rotating if far gone
B) have slight tension, be kinda hard to turn
C) grind when rotated, like theres sand in the bearing
D) not turn at all lol *prolly not this one*

if its not smooth and free flowing, its prolly about to be going... poetic eh?
If theres a grinding or bumpy feel to it, you need to look into replacing it

You can also try pulling teh supercharger belt and run without it. No, wont hurt anything. If the sound is still there, then it'* not any of those pulleys.

Default 93 SC rattle

JCISNA and I have the same or similar problem. I had the SC tensioner and pulley changed because of noise and the noise then worse - does this relate to the grinding and noise Gearhead and Moderator refer to and made worse as belt now on more tension?

Apologies Danthurs (Dan) and Purplehazeir (Kevin) - did not see your names - still getting used to this forum again. Great stuff you post Dan.
Will go back and have a discussion with the Service Manager at the dealership - good guy but I think he and his mechanics do not have a good understanding of supercharger service and problems.

p.*. If you put your names in yellow or white at top of your ID it will stand out better for old eyes like mine.

Well just an update to finish off my supercgarger rattle journey....I had a friend of mine take a look ( he was a pontiac tech for 17 years) and he suggested that my balance shaft( not sure if that is 100% accurate pronunciation) had a bearing on it'* way out.....so after some thaught i have decided to comletely rebuild the green hornet...and purchased a 2004 grand prix gtp to tide me over till my bonny is roaring again...thanks a million for all the help!!

The system drives the name colors in our post profile. But, we all have our real names in our signature file and those are easily read.

Default Under hood rattle

I have the same issue with my 95 ssei and it turns out to be the alt/ ps tensioner assembly. It is the lower dual pully combo towards the back of the motor. Do a stethoscope listen on the center bolt of the assembly and look for a slight bouncing/ jumping motion.
