Default Center brake light housing failed

My center brake light is not working. The lead that runs to ground from the bulb has broken.

Any ideas on a quick fix? Dealer wants $63 for this recepticle!!!!

I have noticed at least on other Bonny around my year with this light out.

Cheers,

BF

Anyone have any tricks for this, short of getting tricked by the parts counter?

Where did the wire break? Right at the socket? I'm not familiar with the design of your light, but if it has a removable socket, you could probably get a replacement at places like AutoZone or Advance.

The lead that makes the ground contact broke, so it is too short.

We've tried soldering an extension and it just doesn't seem to work.

I like that LED solution, but I am not sure what is involved in removing the rear deck.

Working on my back in a trunk or under a dash is just no fun at 52.

Junkyard would be my first trip. Should make it quick and cheap to fix.
