Default Lower O-ring on PCV

I had a problem with excessive vacume in my 95 Se, so much that it was hard to pull the oil cap off. I also had this high pitched whiney noise that was horrible and they local GM dealer told me that my bearings were going out and to get rid of the car. I read a topic someone posted and they said to replace the bottom O-ring on the PCV valve. I did and it fixed the vacume and whiney noise problems ..... Total cost was 58 cents.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the help .... I'm back on the road and still going strong with 211,000 miles ... Burns no oil and runs great.

Any idea how many miles you can get out of one of these cars ... I change oil every 3000k with Valvoline ....

Thanks for the help .... great forum!!!

Hello leftygolfguy, good job on fixing your problem via info gained from this forum ! It is certainly an excellent tool, we all should be very thankful for it.

Had to post a short reply, because one post on this forum had 370,000 miles on car. Is that incredible, or what !! -and get this, he is still on the original transmission !! In my opinion, one of his methods is very wise: He drains the tranny fluid, (via a plug he installed) every second engine oil change.

(-yup, I picked up a plug the other night from NAPA, and will install in mine sometime later)

Enjoy the forums !!

You should have one on the pcv cap that you twist on. There should be another one around the pcv valve where it pushes in and seats in the manifold. My car squeeled like crazy until I finally found a post about excessive vacume in the crankcase.

I have often thought about installing a drain plug in the trans pan. It would sure be condusive to more frequent changes though I must admit, every other oil change is a bit excentric.
