hello all,
does any one know what would set off my traction off and ABS light at the same time? cause earlier today they both came on, and i heard a weird noise from under the hood so i popped the hood and listened it sounded like it was comin for the transmission but then i heard a noise comin from the thing the sit right under the air box it looks like it has brake lines goin in to it, does any one know what it is? cause it was really loud and didnt sound good.

That'* the ABS pump. Sounds like it'* gone haywire. Unplug it to make sure. I don't know of a way to get ABS codes other than getting scanned at a dealership. You may need a new pump.

would that also set my traction off light?

Yes it will set the trac light off too. They are both tied into the same system.

The PUMP is not used for ABS. Only Traction control. However, a pump fault MIGHT take out both systems. To replace the pump, you'll need to replace the entire PMV assembly. This includes the pump, reservior, and PMV.

whats the PMV? and does any one have part numbers for these.

Pressure Modulator Valve. The doo-hickey under your airbox with all the brake lines going to and from it. Last time I checked, it was in the neighborhood of $700 new.

You'll be wanting to locate one at a wrecker, or live without ABS and Traction control like some of us do.

that what i was thinkin just gettin one from the junk yard, But if i dont replace it will it hurt anything thing besides it self? and should i unplug it or just leave it alone if i donnt replace it?

You'll have to nearly flush the entire system in the process of bleeding. If your brake lines are corroded, you'll have a hard time getting disconnected. Use PB Blaster and a line wrench.

Keep in mind, as these units age, the gate valve solenoids in them begin to corrode and fail. Make sure your wrecker unit has a 30-day warrantee. I did this once, and the unit from the wrecker was bad (different fault than original). I took it back, got a refund, and installed my old unit back in it.

I now live without ABS and TC on the Zilla. Have for 4 years. I have no TC on the SLE any longer, but still have ABS.

Suits me just fine.

ill just leave with out them for a while, untill i can find a good one at the yard and a nice day to do it, and besides the lights only come on evey once in a while there not on all the time so ill just deal with it for now and fix my other problems.
