1998 Bonn code trouble
1998 Bonneville SE was running fine, cut off and would not start back up. Towed to shop and started like nothing was wrong, drove for 3 miles and cut off again. Fuel pump appears to be pumping up when ignition key is turned on. Friend of mine had a Tech ! and retrieved 2 codes:
P0 336 - 18 times reference signal circuit
P0 706 - transaxle range switch performance
Any help on what to replace to get my car started again.
Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
You are describing a pretty common crank sensor issue. I'd swap it out ($30 part) and check the wiring to it while in the neighborhood.

BTW the range switch is usually there was well because from time to time the engine will hiccup and restart. It sees a start in the wrong gear and tosses a range issue code.
My 97 drove me nuts on this one.

This is the second time this forum has come through and helped me out. Can I help out by becoming a paying member, and if so, what is the cost per year.
