Weird Noise
My buddy said it sounds like my flywheel but when my car runs and I give it gas it whines almost like a supercharger whine but its an SE. Don't know how else to describe it but I think it sounds cool but know something bad will probably come from it not being checked out heh

Going the same place as sonoma. Most likely whine w/o supercharger is power steering pump. They get really loud when the pump starts trying to pump air with low fluid. And the sound changes when you load the pump by turning the wheel. Check the PS fluid level. If low, top it up and find the leak. If the PS pump is making noise with the fluid at normal level, you'll probably need a new pump. Some other possibilities are: alternator (bearings) going bad, water pump, A/C compressor, and torque converter. TC usually quiets down after it fills with fluid (check trans fluid level). A/C compressor and water pump usually rattle or grind when going out. Idler pulley bearings could whine if dry, too.

could also be belt squeal. hit the ribbed part of the belt with a short blast of wd-40 while the engine is running. if the squeal changes... the same could be done with idler pulleys, only use some type of thin lubricant, silicone spray, etc. if it is an idler pulley, that wont fix it, replace them asap. a frozen pulley could leave you without a belt and stranded.

Its a new belt and it does it when the engine is idling and then as I hit the gas with the car in park or drive it gets progressivly faster. My A/C compressor is already shot but who needs a/c in the winter anyway :P

Sorry been busy. I have no idea when the last time the PCV valve was replaced. I'lm gonna try topping off the tranny fluid, not sure if its low or not.
The new belt should be broken in after 2 years I would think :P
What do I look for when checking the PCV valve/what is it/where is it lol
I'm trying to learn some more about these engines

I'm with ya buddy, sounds I have the same exact problem.
I gave a friend a ride home today and he was like "sooo does this thing have a supercharger or is that whine just a tease?"
And I drive an SE. It seems like it will occur when idling (wheels not turned) and as I accelerate it gets louder, but ends up either drowned out or it stops squealing till I get to a low enough speed again. Doesn't seem to do it everytime, but I may just have noticed it more the last couple days cause it'* been nice out and the windows are down.
Also, it seems like sometimes I hear a thud when turning wheels at slow speeds (in parking lots, navigating to stop signs, etc) so hopefully I don't have a PS problem as well as a steering issue :( I just got the car a couple weeks ago but she was garage kept and very well taken care of before. I plan on taking better care than previous owner, too.
