92 ssei bonnie missing, surging when under a load.
Hello everyone..........still have the same problem with my bonnie. She is being difficult to fix. Ok.........It will start and run fine.......then it will get warm and start missing and gets to about 200-220 degrees. The oil gauge will go from 40 to 120 . The temp gauge will move back and forth like a little flicker. BUT....sometimes I can drive it and all gauges will be perfect no miss or anything. I have new plugs wires. Put new coils on it. Could the coupler in the */c due this. We are replacing it this w/end. sometimes when I start it up before it starts when you turn the key on you get this noise like zzzzzzzzzzz sound like , then it starts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have only one code21...which it has had 2 new tps on it.

Shannon...looks like long time no hear.
You have a 94 SSEi I assume from the coupler and dash issues. The crazy gauge issue is one that we have a couple fixes for...option A replace entire cluster, option B replace a small circuit board behind those three gauges. When i had a 95 I found replacing the small board to be quick, easy and no worries about the mileage etc.
The coupler will only correct the rattle like noise from the supercharger. Running at 200-220 in traffic or sitting still is normal. The fans come on at 215 and 225ish.
The Bzzzzzz you hear when you turn on the key before starting is the fuel pump running to pressurize the system, also normal. (And a good sign)
The missing once warm.. You mention new plugs/wires. What brands did you install? I would try removing the coils/ICM and cleaning the plate the ICM mounts to and the bottom of the ICM to ensure a good ground connection. Look over the ICM for any cracks etc, check connectors and wiring for any loose or bad areas.

The coils were from Autozone. I deal with a local junk yard so I will call and ask him if he has any icm/coils I can try. I'll also ask him about the dash. Autolite plugs....wires...not for sure about that....will check..........thanks for all the input.......

Shannon, can you do this with the new (and old) coils and report the numbers back to us?
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=33
And while you have the meter out, can you report the resistance of the spark plug wires in this order:
1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6

92 ssei worries
Well I'm not for sure on how to check the resistants....but I will ask our mechanic whom works for us sometimes....My husband is a little under the weather right now. By the way I know that when you turn the key on you will hear the fuel pump but this is when I try to start the car.......the noise is right before it starts.ok.I turn the key to start it and I get a zzzzzzzzzzzing noise then it will turn over and start. Who knows what it is...I alm going to clean the icm this w/end when they are working on the */c. I will be so glad to get rid of that rattle. I still am getting the tps code. Thanks again for all the help.

Great info..yes.. you have a bad connection or broken wire somewhere..
Look at the coils/ICM for any cracks. Also look over the wiring and check to ensure the bolt in the connector on the front of the ICM is snugged up.
Since you are seeing the issue much worse with any moisture.. If this is a bad plug wire..you can probably see it arching at night. Wait until it'* good and dark out. Lift the hood and start it up... if it'* a bad plug wire etc..it'* arching a bright spark to ground....and you should be able to see it easlily.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok....I will do that...........I noticed when I changed the coils that the middle on is grey and the other 2 are black....I think those are factory.........Now that I think about it the ground under the icm coming from the battery I believe has about a inche of bare wire on it before it gets to the connection bolt on the icm...........there is one also going to the starter correct?
