sounds like VATS is keeping your car from running.. try cleaning the chip on the key with rubbing alcohol before anything else
is the security light coming on? you have to wait 3 min before trying again

I tried cleaning the key already. the security light seems to come on and blink sometimes and others it doesnt come on at all. Is there a way to bypass the security.

Please tell us what your security light is doing with the key on.
Please pull your battery cables off the battery, and peel the boots back. Is there any corrosion inside the boots on the cable ends? It hides inside. You must pull the boots off.

if i remember right it seems to come on and blink, which i think it always did. I will run to the shop and check for sure. I will post results in about a half hour. If the battery cable was corroded it wouldnt crank over. I just run a wire from battery to small ignition wire going to starter to jump it. so I think the battery wire must be making connectionsince thats where it gets the power to crank over. Good idea though.

I had this problem with my 96 Monte Carlo. It was the key itself. I used my wife'* copy and had no problems. Lucky it happened in the driveway.
