A/C Recharge
Where do I hook up the recharge kit? Just want to make sure, so I don't blow something up. A picture would be awesome.
Thanks!!

don't have a picture, but it is going to be the low pressure service port which is the one closest to the alternator up by the strut tower, the one on the thicker diameter pipe.

Thanks, I figured that was the one, but just wanted to make sure. Haven't had the coldest of air lately and I am hoping the charge is just low.
Thanks for the help.

If the compressor isn't engaging (you'll know by the clicking sound), then the system won't accept any freon. To get around this, unplug the boot from the A/C cannister (along the firewall, remove the maxifuse panel cover). Complete the circuit in that connector. This will bypass the low pressure switch so that the compressor will engage.
Once you have the system up to the correct pressure, reconnect the boot to cannister.

Well, it seems to have worked. I emptied the can, but still didn't get up to the pressure suggested on the bottle. I got to about 45, the bottle says it should get to 55 for the outside temperature at the moment(90 F). So I think I am going to add a little more to top it off. I hope it holds the charge and I don't have leak (currently crossing my fingers). Thanks for the advice.

Whoa...no can says you need 55 psi.
The can probably says at 90 degrees you should get 50 degrees out of the vents. Please get a manual or refer to one to ensure you charge the car to the proper PSI...putting it at the wrong pressure could result in poor results or larger problems down the road.
(The 97 book does not say 55psi, just checked)

Hmm....I very possibly could have described this inaccurately. The recharge kit I bought, from Quest(the one with the polar bear on it), says that at an ambient temp of 90 degrees I should get a reading on the supplied gauge between 45-55. I got 45 after I added one can. I was thinking that I wanted to get it into the top of the range for a better charge.
Apparently I am incorrect in this line of thought. On the supplied guage the pressure is at the top of the "Full" range. I am going to leave it where it is. I didn't have the can or guage in front of me during my earlier post, so I am sure I got some numbers wrong. I hope this clears things up. And hopefully I haven't messed anything up.
Thanks again.
