92 SE with a problem. 2 codes were found
Hi,
I have a 92 bonneville se and I started having problems yesterday. When I have the car in park, the idle sometimes surges. It sounds like it has a lumpy cam. Sometimes when I come to a stop light, the car dies and I have to restart. I put a paperclip in the computer outlet and some up with these codes.
code 21: Throttle position(TPS)voltage high
code 34: MAF sensor-voltage too low
Could one set off another one?
Rob

They're pretty well unrelated as far as the PCM is concerned. Although they both help determine AFR, they do it in different ways.
The only thing they really have in common is the wiring harness. Look for damage between the sensors and where they enter the firewall.
I'd suggest at this point that ONE might be a fluke. Disconnect your battery for 30 minutes to clear both codes, then see which come back. We'll tackle whichever you see the next round, even if it'* both.

Well, I changed the TPS sensor and that code went away. The car still stumbles and cuts out once in awhile and now just the MAF code comes up. I ordered a MAF from autozone for $112.
Willwren, Is that a good deal for the sensor and do you think thats my problem? I took the TB off and cleaned it up good.

Mine is doing something like this
I just got a 1992 Bonneville SE today. I love Bonnevilles this is my second. However this one is way different then my other one the (SE). So far everytime I start it up it has killed and I must restart it a second time(always works). My second problem so far is when I'm at a stoplight or come to a complete stop it kinda jerks for like 2 seconds then I can take off. I have noticed this happens only if I have my foot on the brake then suddenly let up instead of easy off the brake. Does anybody have any Idea what this could be? Brakes or not?. Please let me know all suggestions are welcome

Don't know if it'* any help, but I had this problem the other day, with the idle going up and down and getting near to stalling.
Probably not, but wont hurt to tell. Check the engine bay by the throttle cable, make sure all the small hoses are connected, and make sure their connections are tight, and the connectors have not degraded. In my SE, the lower mini hose next to the small metallic circular thing by the throttle area, right to the right of it, had broken, and caused me to have a bad idle.
Maybe it will help, maybe not, just my 2 cents.
