Default 92 PA seized. **update** great news!!!

tonight i go to leave from a freinds house. im in my 92 p/a. has 180k mi. i go to crank the engine over and it hesitates and when it does start, it has a ping. rather loud. very destinctly from the driver side of the engine.

heres a vid

sounds to me like a rod knock. maybe a spun bearing. either way i would want to remove the eng to replace and rebuild. and i tried to restart after the vid, and the engine would not turn over. its seized. funds do not permit a rebuild right now. i can get an engine for 150 from a "pull ur-self junkyard." so thats the route im gonna take.

just would like some extra opinions based on the clip.

tia guys

There'* always a lack of sleep and a miserable engine swap of 11-1. Sucks...but somedays you make into a hefty bag.

i going to take the L67 from my grand prix and use it in my pa. the c body ecu will be better than the w body ecu i have any way. and the park ave has all the bells and whistles. the gp may be lighter, but oh well.

i just hope its salvageable. i would like to repair the l27 and use it in the gp. then sell the car. cuz even tho i can get a jy eng for cheap, i dont have the 150 for that right now.

im gonna shoot for saturday. hope weather cooperates. and as long as i can get a couple freinds over, it is more than feasible to have done same day.

Yeah thats too bad, I just purchased a 93 last week for $350 with the same problem, do you know what caused it? Low oil or something?

this engine has 180k. there was no warning signs. no early noises.

oil level was good. that was the first thing i checked.

but i believe the problem stems from my cam magnet. ive been driving this for a while with no camm signal. diagnosed to be the magnet missing. the default ecm setting was probably running the car rich. and the extra fuel may have caused the premature wear. idk really know thats just my hypothesis.

if that is the cause, i guess i cant bitch. it my own fault for procrastinating for so long.

im gonna give up my project grand prix and use that engine. it just sucks to put so much time and effort into that and for almost nothing. but i must say i did learn quite a bit during the process. so i did gain knowledge.

as long as the L27 is trustworthy, ill sell the gp with that. im not gonna pass off any eng i wouldnt feel safe with myself, to someone else. if i have to, ill search my local jy for a L27 or L36 thats reliable. i just refuse to put the quad 4 or a 3.1 in there. im stubborn. gotta be a 231!
