Okay here is the deal if anyone can give me a hand.

Tonight I was out driving around with my A/C on max and the fan on high.

I stopped to get something to eat and came back out to the car and the thing wouldn't go on max and work, so i switched it just to A/C option and it would come on and blow through the vents, but it would only blow at one speed and even on high it would blow really softly.

Does anyone know what this could be?

i have no idea. my climate control won't go below 60 degrees and i have no idea why.

i think i'm going to start with the blower motor it is about 52 dollars US and if this doesnt fix it, then it may be the control module on the inside. so i'll keep it updated to let you see how it goes.

If the fan is still blowing air, wouldn't it stand to reason that the fan motor is OK and it might be a relay or (if they still use these) the hi-speed fuse?

where would these be located?

OK, I just got out my 1991 Olds Manual and it shows Blower Motor Resistor Assembly which, according to a diagram in the manual, sits on top of the blower motor housing. Your Pontiac may differ. That'* all I can offer you for now until the Gearheads chime in. Good Luck.

That is all there is!!! You will have to find a colder climate if you want the cabin temperature lower than 60 degrees F (16 degrees C). Also the the highest you can set your Climate Control is 90 degrees F (32 degrees C). Again you may want to stay "South of the Border" if you want your cabin fever to stay warmer than that.

so 60 is the air conditioning. holy ****.

go to techinfo and find "Evap Cleaning 101". one of the steps tells you how to remove the blower resister assembly, or blower controller module, or whatever you like to call it

i think the owner manual states that 60 sets the air conditioner to maximum, no matter what the interior temperature is, and 90 sets the heat for maximum. I'm guessing that this is sort of a manual overide in case the automatic part quits.

just had to replace the blower motor relay, for about twenty bucks got the a/c working.
